A few weeks back, a lone seagull stood transfixed – watching the Combined Probus Club of Northbridge celebrate the 50th Anniversary of the Probus organisation in Australia at a waterfront barbecue at Tunks Park – overlooking beautiful Long Bay.
The Probus Club attracted 44 of Probus’s 120 members to this picnic celebration - marking a half century since Probus’s Australian inception. Many of the other 1400 Probus clubs around Australia and New Zealand conducted similar anniversary celebrations around this time.
With Probus’s blue and yellow colours reflected in balloons and decorations and members having a great opportunity to chat, the excellent barbecue celebration proved a huge success. So much so that the Club’s Committee proposed that the Club make it an annual event. The membership agreed enthusiastically.
The Combined Probus Club of Northbridge is a social club for retired men and women. Its membership enjoys monthly meetings with guest speakers, monthly outings around Sydney, longer trips within Australia (and occasionally overseas), theatre parties, social lunches and other activities.
The Club meets at 10am at Northbridge Golf Club on the third Monday of each month (except December). Its annual membership fee is $50.
Visitors to the club are welcomed. If you are interested in becoming involved, you can contact the Club through its website (https://microsites.probussouthpacific.org/microsites/northbridgecombined/Our_club_and_meetings) or call the Club secretary on 0412 611 399 or its membership officer on 0422 537 044.
